84 Inch MicroBoom Overhead Condenser Microphone System
The Audix MB8450 MicroBoom System is an extra-long 84-inch overhead cardioid condenser microphone solution designed for clean, accurate sound capture where distance and precise placement matter. Built for professional live sound, broadcast, and installed audio environments, this system allows engineers to position a microphone high above performers or instruments while keeping the stage visually uncluttered.
Cardioid Pickup for Controlled and Natural Sound
Equipped with the Audix M1250B miniature condenser microphone, the MB8450 uses a cardioid polar pattern to focus on the intended sound source while reducing off-axis noise and feedback. This makes it well suited for choir miking, overhead ensemble capture, percussion, speech reinforcement, and ambient room pickup in acoustically challenging spaces.
High Sensitivity Condenser with Integrated Electronics
The M1250B features an integrated preamplifier and operates on standard 48V phantom power, removing the need for external power modules. Its wide frequency response and high sensitivity allow it to reproduce vocals and instruments with clarity and consistency. The high-output design supports long cable runs, making it reliable for large venues and fixed installations.
Lightweight 84 Inch Carbon Fiber Boom Design
The extended 84-inch MicroBoom arm is constructed from rigid carbon fiber to maintain strength without excessive weight. It mounts to standard microphone stands and can be positioned horizontally or vertically. A flexible gooseneck at the base allows fine adjustment of angle and rotation, enabling precise placement even in hard-to-reach locations.
Shielded Internal Cable for Clean Signal Path
A shielded internal cable runs through the MicroBoom to minimize radio frequency interference and maintain signal integrity. The microphone connects via a discreet mini-XLR at the tip of the boom for a clean appearance. A detachable 25-foot mini-XLR to XLR cable is included for direct connection to mixers, preamps, or audio interfaces.
Versatile System for Large Venues and Installations
Designed to work with Audix Micro Series condenser capsules, the MB8450 offers flexibility for different pickup needs. Its extended reach and stable construction make it ideal for houses of worship, concert halls, theaters, and broadcast applications where overhead microphone placement is required without compromising sound quality or sightlines.
