Professional Remote Control for GPM-300 Series Audio Switchers

The Broadcast Devices GPMRC3 is a dedicated single rack unit remote control panel designed for use with the GPM-300 General Purpose Matrix Audio Switcher series. Built for intra-facility communication via RS-485, the GPMRC3 allows operators to manage and control audio routing with precision and speed. Up to eight GPMRC3 panels can be connected to a single GPM-300, giving broadcast engineers scalable control for demanding audio switching applications.

Optimized Button Layout and Status Indicators

The GPMRC3 is equipped with two sets of eight control buttons and eight corresponding status indicators. The left side of the panel provides eight input controls, while the right side offers eight output selections. At the center, eight audio presence status LEDs remain lit when signal is detected above the preset threshold for at least five seconds. This clear visual feedback allows engineers to monitor active channels instantly.

Arming Function for Secure Command Execution

To prevent unintended changes, the GPMRC3 features a protected “arming” button located on the far right of the panel. Once engaged, this button enables the panel to send commands to the GPM-300III switcher. This safeguard ensures that only deliberate control actions are executed, providing an additional layer of operational security in live broadcast environments.

Flexible Installation for Multi-Panel Control

Installation of the GPMRC3 is designed for simplicity and adaptability. Connection from the GPM-300 switcher to the first panel is made via the RS-485 serial connector, with subsequent panels linked in series until all desired units—up to eight—are connected. Each panel includes two DB25 female connectors for RS-485 in/out, allowing daisy-chain wiring to the next panel. A 110-ohm termination should be applied to the last panel to ensure proper communication integrity.

Versatile Cabling Options for Any Facility

The GPMRC3 supports both traditional shielded two-wire connections, such as Belden 8451, and shielded CAT 5 cable using the included DB9-to-RJ45 adapters. For end-of-line termination, one adapter is supplied with a built-in 110-ohm resistor. This flexibility in wiring makes the GPMRC3 compatible with both existing cable infrastructure and modern network cabling standards.
