The Broadcast Electronics 979-0073-102 VPe XG is an advanced signal processing upgrade designed to enhance HD Radio performance on compatible Broadcast Electronics transmitters. Built for STX LP Generation II transmitters and BE systems using STXe exciters, this 1RU unit delivers adaptive pre-correction and Exgine capability to support reliable, high-quality HDRadio broadcasting in demanding transmission environments.

Adaptive Pre-Correction for Cleaner Hybrid Signals

At the core of the VPe XG is Broadcast Electronics’ Adaptive Pre-Correction technology, also known as VPe technology. This processing continuously compensates for transmitter and system nonlinearities, helping maintain cleaner digital sidebands and improved spectral performance. The result is more stable HD Radio operation, reduced distortion, and improved signal consistency over time.

Higher IBOC Injection Levels with Fine Adjustment Control

The VPe XG supports higher power IBOC injection levels, allowing broadcasters to operate at -10 dBc or -14 dBc, with precise adjustment in 1 dBc steps between -20 dBc and -10 dBc. This level of control helps engineers optimize digital coverage while maintaining compliance with regulatory and system performance requirements.

Crest Factor Reduction for Improved Analog Power Output

Broadcast Electronics’ proprietary crest factor reduction scheme is built into the VPe XG to lower peak-to-average power ratios.
