Featuring a powerful internal routing matrix, the ADI‑642 lets you assign any of its 72 input channels (MADI and AES) to 74 outputs. This flexible patchbay capability supports format conversion, signal splitting, merging, and multichannel distribution—even combining multiple MADI devices into synchronized routing chains using word clock alignment.
High‑Precision Synchronization with SteadyClock and SyncAlign
Equipped with RME’s SteadyClock, SyncAlign, and SyncCheck technologies, the ADI‑642 delivers ultra‑low jitter and automatically adjusts for delay across chained units. It supports single, double, and quad-speed word clock operation and ensures sample-accurate AES output even when using multiple units, with settings persisting when powered off.
Remote Control, MIDI, and Comprehensive Signal Status Monitoring
This converter supports full remote control via MIDI or RS-232, with each unit receiving a unique ID to allow separate configuration. The crisp front panel display provides real-time status including sync lock, channel content, and signal health. MIDI data can even be embedded and transported via MADI.
Stereo Monitor Output with Professional Audio Performance
A stereo monitor output is built in, delivering analog monitoring at sample rates up to 192 kHz with a high signal‑to‑noise ratio around 112 dBA. Its low-impedance circuit supports both headphone and line-level monitoring with clear authority.
