The Rode MiCon-8 is a MiCon connector adaptor that links RODE MiCon-terminated wearable microphones to select professional wireless bodypack transmitters. It is not a microphone or a transmitter of its own; it is the small, precise coupling that lets a premium RODE mic you already own plug straight into a different wireless system instead of forcing you to buy a whole new microphone. For the sound engineer juggling a mixed transmitter inventory, that is the difference between a five-second swap and an expensive duplicate purchase.
How the MiCon System Works
Every RODE MiCon microphone ends in a standard MiCon terminal rather than a fixed, hard-wired plug. Each connector in the MiCon range twists onto that terminal and converts it to the exact plug a given wireless transmitter expects, locking in place so it stays put. The MiCon-8 terminates in a locking 3.5mm connector sized for select professional wireless bodypack systems, and its gold-plated contacts carry the microphone signal cleanly across the join. Because the microphone and the connector are separate parts, a single HS1, PinMic or Lavalier can move between transmitter systems simply by fitting the right MiCon on the end.
