Active Inline Preamp for Dynamic and Ribbon Microphones
The sE Electronics DM2 Dynamite is an active in-line microphone preamp designed to add clean, reliable gain to passive dynamic and ribbon microphones. Installed directly between the microphone and your mic preamp or audio interface, it boosts low-output signals so vocals, speech, and instruments hit optimal recording levels without added noise or tonal coloration.
Selectable Gain for Flexible Recording Scenarios
A front-mounted switch lets you choose between 15 dB or 30 dB of gain, making the DM2 ideal for everything from spoken word and broadcast to quiet acoustic instruments and low-output ribbon microphones. This selectable gain ensures you can dial in the right amount of signal boost without overdriving your preamp or introducing distortion.
Impedance Control for Precise Microphone Matching
The DM2 features eight selectable impedance settings ranging from 50 ohms up to 10 megaohms. This allows precise matching between your microphone and preamp, helping you fine-tune tonal response, transient detail, and overall clarity. Proper impedance matching can dramatically affect how a microphone sounds, especially with passive ribbon and dynamic designs.
Low-Noise Class-A Signal Path
Built around a transformerless Class-A circuit with high-grade FET components, the DM2 delivers transparent gain with extremely low self-noise. A dedicated output buffer minimizes RF interference, hum, and signal degradation, even when running long cable lengths in studio or live sound environments.
Phantom Powered with Safe Microphone Operation
The DM2 operates using standard 48V phantom power supplied by your mixer, interface, or preamp, while safely isolating phantom power from your microphone. This makes it completely safe for passive dynamic and ribbon microphones, though it is not intended for microphones that require phantom power themselves.
Road-Ready Design for Studio and Live Use
Housed in a slim, rugged all-metal enclosure, the DM2 is built for dependable performance in studios, broadcast setups, and demanding live sound environments. Its compact inline form factor fits easily into any mic chain while standing up to touring, stage use, and daily setup breakdowns.
