The A20-Mini features full 32-bit float recording at 48 kHz for distortion-free capture of audio across a massive dynamic range. With over 130 dB of headroom, it’s nearly impossible to clip. Recordings are stored internally on 64GB of memory, accessible via USB Type-C. For wireless use, the unit uses 100% digital RF transmission with tuning from 470 to 1525 MHz, providing maximum frequency flexibility. Although simultaneous recording and transmission is not available in the U.S., the A20-Mini still gives sound professionals adaptable tools to meet their workflow needs.

Remote Control and Gain Management via Mobile App
One of the most powerful features of the A20-Mini is its remote control functionality via the A20-Remote app, available for iOS, iPadOS, and Android. From your phone or tablet, you can power the unit on or off, start or stop recording, mute the mic, adjust frequency and RF power, and format media. Thanks to Bluetooth 5.2 and an internal high-efficiency antenna, connection is fast and reliable—even when the unit is already mounted on talent. Paired with GainForward Architecture, gain adjustments can be made at the mixer or A10-RX receiver with no loss in headroom.

Built-In Timecode and Advanced Workflow Tools
For productions needing timecode synchronization, the A20-Mini includes a built-in timecode generator powered by a supercapacitor. It can be jammed via USB Type-C and maintains accuracy for up to 24 hours with minimal drift. When it’s time to offload files, Sound Devices offers the SD-Utility desktop app for Mac and Windows. This software allows file conversion, renaming, timecode-based trimming, and CSV sound report generation, streamlining your post-production workflow.

Efficient Powering and Extended Runtime Options
The A20-Mini runs on either three AAA batteries or a Sony NP-BX1 lithium-ion battery, giving users flexibility in powering options. With an NP-BX1, you can even charge the battery while it's still inside the unit via USB-C—no disassembly required. This thoughtful design minimizes downtime and ensures the A20-Mini stays on for long shoots. Additional accessories like the PowerStation-8M allow simultaneous charging and data transfer for up to eight units at once, ideal for large productions.
