Wideband Digital Wireless Transmitter with 169–1525 MHz Tuning, Remote Gain Control, 32-Bit Float Recording, Mic/Line/AES Inputs, NexLink Control, Timecode Sync
Features:
Versatile Bodypack Transmitter and Audio Recorder for Film and Broadcast
The Sound Devices A20-TX is a professional-grade digital wireless bodypack transmitter and 32-bit float recorder built for today’s demanding production workflows. It supports a wide range of input sources including two- and three-wire lavs, balanced microphones with 12 or 48V phantom power, balanced line-level sources, AES3/AES42 digital mics like the SuperCMIT, and even guitars when used with an optional adapter cable. Designed for use with Astral-series receivers like the A20-Nexus and A20-Nexus Go, the A20-TX provides studio-quality sound and seamless remote control in a single rugged aluminum chassis.
Tuning Flexibility with SpectraBand Technology
Whether you're working in dense UHF environments or need access to underutilized VHF spectrum, the A20-TX has you covered with an industry-leading SpectraBand tuning range from 169 to 1525 MHz. This gives production teams worldwide the flexibility to find clean, interference-free frequencies in any environment. The A20-TX transmits using 100% digital RF modulation for clear, high-fidelity audio and long-distance transmission reliability on set or on location.
Remote Gain Control with GainForward Architecture
The A20-TX eliminates transmitter-side gain adjustments entirely thanks to GainForward. Instead, audio levels are set at the receiver or mixer using digital trim. That means no need to disturb the talent to make level changes, and no compromise in audio performance. The A20-TX always runs at full quality and headroom, whether gain is adjusted on a mixer or from the Astral receiver.
Reliable Long-Range Remote Control and Sync
With NexLink technology built in, the A20-TX allows full remote control via long-distance 2.4 GHz communication, even in Wi-Fi congested environments. You can remotely change settings, power transmitters on or off, or jam sync timecode—all from an A20-Nexus receiver. The internal timecode generator is stable and accurate, and the unit can be jammed via USB-C or NexLink for frame-accurate sync.
Built-In Recorder with Sunlight-Readable Display
In addition to wireless transmission, the A20-TX includes a built-in 32-bit float / 48 kHz audio recorder that saves files to a removable microSD card. With over 130 dB of dynamic range, it ensures pristine backup recordings without clipping. The e-Paper display stays readable in direct sunlight and remains visible even when the unit is powered off. A backlight activates when the battery door is opened for low-light use.
Flexible Power Options for Long Days
The A20-TX supports up to 12 hours of operation on AA batteries or optional rechargeable lithium or LiFePO4 cells. It can also be powered and charged via USB-C, providing convenient options on long shoot days. The lightweight and durable aluminum construction is ready for field use in tough environments.
